Mary L. Collins
Mary Louise Collins, 88, Augusta, died Monday, Nov. 25, at the HCA Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel here.
Rev. Max Munson will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born July 23, 1903 at Grenola as a daughter of Mary Lou Allen Rule and Smiley Bonham Haigler.
On April 23, 1921, she and John Millard Collins were married in a ceremony at Howard. He survives.
Mrs. Collins was a retired seamstress and tailor.
Other survivors include a son, Jeffrey of Hutchinson, a daughter, Christina Smith of Augusta and
a brother, Martin Haigler o Hutchinson. She was preceded in death by one son, Jay who died in September of this year).

Maxine Porter of Peabody, mother of Augusta city manager Warren Porter, died last night at the hospital in Newton.
Funeral arrangements were pending this morning at the Baker Funeral Home in Peabody.

John Eckel
John E. Eckel, 85, died Nov. 14 in Gramacy Hill Care Center in Lincoln, Neb. He was a Douglass High School graduate.
Funeral services were Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Arkansas City.
Burial was in Douglass Cemetery.
Eckel was born in Rick Creek Township, Cowley County, to Charles B. and Clara E. (Gephart) Eckel.
He attended Kansas University and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1929
with a degree in petroleum engineering.
In June of 1935, he married Dorothy Guyot in Douglass, and they resided in Houston, Texas.
After retiring, the Eckels moved to Arkansas City. Eckel’s wife preceded him in death on Aug. 16.
Survivors include a son, John E. Jr. of Galveston, Texas; a daughter, Mary Endecott Nefsky of Lincoln, Neb.;
and seven grandchildren.
