Maxine Porter

Maxine L. Porter, 66, Peabody, died Tuesday, Nov. 26. She was the mother of Warren Porter of Augusta.
Funeral services were today at the Baker Funeral Home, Peabody.
Porter was a Peabody Memorial Nursing Home food service employee.
Other survivors include a daughter, Leslie Clark of Towanda, 111.; a brother, Harold Thomas of Vista, Calif.;
a sister, Harriet Patton of Newton; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
A memorial has been established with Peabody High School Alumni Association.

Wayne Peak

Wayne Courtney Peak, 75, El Dorado, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, at the Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital, El Dorado.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta,
the Rev. Larry Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Peak was born July 22, 1916, in Piedmont, to Susie (Courtney) and Fred Peak.
On Feb. 14, 1976, he married Dorothy Elizabeth Summons in Stockton. She survives.
Other survivors include sons Gary of Hutchinson, Ronald of Garden City, James of Rose Hill;
a stepson, John Governski of Manhattan; a daughter, Gloria Elrod of Augusta;
stepdaughters, Janice Edwards of Manhattan, Marilyn Berends of Arlington;
brothers, Duane of Bella Vista, Ark., Lloyd of Vista, Calif.; sister, Maxine Meineke of Derby;
14 grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; his mother, Susie G. Peak of Vista, Calif.
Preceding him in death was his father and a granddaughter, Kim Pc elk.
Peak was a track supervisor and a member of the Temple Baptist Church.

Jeremy Benton

Jeremy Jarrold Benton, 9, Novato, Calif., died Wednesday, Nov. 27.
He is the grandson of Henry & Dorothy Leedom of Augusta and Betty McDougald of Irving, Texas.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday at St. James Church; rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday
at Dunsford Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Other survivors include his parents, Michael and Janet McDougald;
sisters, Courtney McDougald and Amanda McDougald, both of the home.

Infant Veal boy

A memorial service will be held at the First Assembly of God Church, 21st & Ohio, at 7 o’clock Wednesday evening
for Christopher Ward Veal, infant son of Mitch and Salena Veal of Augusta.
He is survived by his parents; a sister, Alexandra; an uncle, Stephen;
maternal grandparents, Rev. & Mrs. Edsel Lovette of Augusta, and
paternal grandparents, Margaret Veal of Abilene, and Calvin Veal of North Carolina.

George Souder

George Souder, 81, Salina, died Thursday, Nov. 28, in Wichita. He was the father of
Sharon Turpin and Karen Rash of Augusta and brother of Ed Souder of Augusta.
Funeral services have been held.
Souder was a retired refrigerator and air conditioner engineer.
Other survivors include his wife, Fran, of the home; four sisters , Ola Merryfield of Lawrence,
Maude Budge of Saint John, Daphnia Brown of Anaheim, Calif., Doris Gros of Salina;
six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the First Christian Church of Salina.
Hillside Funeral Home, Wichita, is in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn Cooley

Evelyn Ruth (McCorkle) Cooley, 72, Howard, died Thursday, Nov. 28. She is the mother of Johnny Cooley, Augusta.
Funeral services were today at Grace Lawn Cemetery, Howard.
Cooley was a retired Cooley’s Beauty Shop owner and operator.
Other survivors include a son, Larry of Moline; daughter, Evelyne Ann Foust of Winfield;
nine grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Elk Manor Nursing Home, Moline.
Zimmermann Funeral Home, Howard, is in charge of arrangements.
