Ted Poindexter
Ted Joseph Poindexter, 49, o Otis, Colo, died Dec. 16 at th< Sterling Regional Medcenter ir Sterling, Colo.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Dec. 19 at the First Presbyterian Church in Otis.
A second service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Dunsford Funeral Flome here and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born Sept. 13 ,1942 in Great Bend to Ted Franklin and Nellie Klinger Poindexter.
He grew up in the Great Bend area.
After graduating from Great Bend High School in 1961, he went to work for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita until 1969.
Poindexter moved to Akron where he married Virginia Grover on May 22, 1970.
He then worked as an oil pumper in the oil field in Washington County where worked until his
health forced him to retire in 1989.
He served in the U.S. Army National Guard, was a charter member of the Hi Plains Old Car Club of Akron, Colo.,
and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Akron.
Poindexter is survived by his wife Virginia of Otis, Colo.; two sons, Michael Long and
Gregory Poindexter and wife Cherie, all of Es Condido, Calif.; two daughters, Melissa Poindexter and
Cindi Poindexter, both of Akron, and one sister, Janell Hager of Hays Center, Neb.
Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the Lou Gehrig Foundation.
Mary Younker
Mary Younker, 61, Hays, mother of Geraldine Zimmerman of Augusta, died today, Dec. 18, at her home.
Her funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, at St. Joseph’s Church in Hays with burial
in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
She was bom March 11, 1930 at Libenthal as a daughter of Andrew and Margaret Pfeifer Schoendaller.
On May 11, 1950, she married Tony J. Younker in a ceremony at Libenthal. He survives.
Mrs. Younker recently retired as a unit cleaner from the housekeeping department of the
St. Anthony campus of the Hays Medical Center. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church.
Other survivors include a son, Gerald of El Dorado; daughters Kathleen Kramer of Wichita and
Diane Wittman of Rose Hill; three brothers, Juluis and Wendelin Schoendaller, both of Hays,
and Fredolin Schoendaller of Longmont, Colo., and seven grandchildren.
Brock’s North Hill Chapel of Hays is in charge of funeral arrangements.
