Grandmother Dies At 86
Mary Amelia Flowers, 86, Cottonwood Falls, grandmother of Patsy Mayo of Augusta, died Friday at the Chase County Nursing Center in Cottonwood Falls.
Her service was at 11 a.m. today at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Florence. Father Joseph Schacht and Father Joseph Slomski officiated and burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery in Florence.
She was born March 25, 1896 in Chase County to Albert and Minnie Giffler Piper.
She married Leslie George Flowers March 25, 1914. He preceded her in death May 19.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Florence.
Other survivors include a daughter, Evelyn White of Cottonwood Falls.

Mother Dies In Wichita
Bessie Pearl Abbott, 88, Wichita, mother of Richard Abbott of Augusta, died Friday at Cherry Creek nursing home in Wichita.
Her service was at 10 a.m. to-
day at Lakeview Mortuary in Wichita. Pastor Paul Strand officiated and burial was in the Lakeview Cemetery.
She was born July 16, 1894 in Turon to John and and Eva Linder Todd.
She was a homemaker.
Other survivors include sons, Marvin Abbott and Don Abbott, both of Wichita; daughters, Joan Lowry of Wellington, Maxine Lehman and Dixie Sailor, both of Wichita.

Reetz Rites Were Today
Services for William “Bill” H. Reetz, 86, 2111 Ohio, were at 2 p.m. today at the Lakeview Mortuary in Wichita.
Reetz died Thursday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Rev. Richard Axmann of the First Baptist Church here officiated. Entombment was at Lakeview Mausoleum in Wichita.
Memorials have been established with the First Baptist Church and the American Heart Fund.
He was born May 10, 1896 to William and Carolyn Paeth Reetz on a farm in the Augusta area.
He married Nydene Thomas Jan. 25, 1925. She survives.
He was retired from Derby Oil Corporation where he worked 38 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I and was a member of the American Legion.
Other survivors include a sister, Minnie Scaer of Augusta, and several nieces and nephews.

Emma Busch Dies At 83
Emma Pearl Busch, 83, Route 2, died Monday, Nov. 8, at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Her service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at St. James Catholic Church here. Father David Cushing will officiate and burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.
The rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Dunsford Funeral Home.
Memorials have been established with St. James Catholic Church and AMCI.
She was born Jan. 7, 1899 In Cowley County to Thomas A. and Bertie Leo York Ashworth.
She married Cecil Anthony Busch Dec. 30, 1918 in Wellington. He survives.
Other survivors include sons, John Busch and Larry Busch, both of Augusta; daughters, Emma Noland of Longton, Ruth Manning and Lois Hagebusch, both of Augusta, and Bernice Spivey of Leon; a brother, Albert Ashworth of Wichita; a sister, Jessie M. Slater of Wichita; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Grandson Dies In California
Word has been received here concerning the death of Warren Robert Day, grandson of Augustans Dr. Thomas Day and Wilma Day.
The infant son of Bob and Linda Day was born Aug. 22 in San Diego. He was two months and three days old when he died Oct. 25 of sudden infant death snydrome. Memorials may be sent to the Sudden Infant Death Snydrome (SIDS) association.
Funeral services were held at Cardiff by the Sea in California. Burial was at El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego.
Attending services were Dr. Tom and Eloise Day, Mrs. Wilma Day, Roxanne Dressier, G.R. and Mary Rogers and Clint and Mr. and Mrs. Scott Day and Heather.
Also surviving are the baby’s maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Averett of Indio, Calif.
