Elizabeth Krack
Elizabeth May “Betty” Crack, 78, Augusta, died Thursday, June 13, 1996, Via Christi-St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.
Her service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, Dunsford Chapel, Augusta, with Pastor C.R. Macchi,
First Baptist Church officiating.
She will be buried in the Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
She was born to William and Sidney and Mary Elizabeth (Bolinger) Winzer on May 9, 1918 in Augusta.
She married Norris Vernon Krack on June 3, 1939 in Augusta. He preceded her in death in 1971.
Krack was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Augusta where she was in
the choir, A.V.W. White Cross Chairman, and the Fun and Fellowship Chairman.
When her children were young, she was Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout Den mother.
She attended Ottawa University, then, later BCCC, where she was active in a life enrichment course.
Krack was also a member in the Junior Forum, Wichita Astronomical Society, and
the secretary of the Photography Club. She helped plan her 60th Augusta High School reunion,
but was hospitalized and didn’t get to attend.
She is survived by her son, James of Augusta; daughters, Sally Jones and Sylvia Paul, both of Wichita,
Sarah Hacker of Harrisonville, Mo., Sue Vest of Albuquerque, N.M.; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Jessie Brown

Jessie Maybelle Brown, 99, Augusta, died Thursday, June 13, 1996.
Her services will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 17, First MethodistChurch, Augusta,
with Rev. Vern Bowers officiating. She will be buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Brown was born to Charles and Alice Berger in Sedgwick County on Feb. 26, 1897 and
raised on a farm east of Douglass. As a graduate of Douglass High School in 1914,
she was the sole survivor of her class when she attended its scheduled eightieth reunion in 1994.
She taught in country schools, beginning in 1914 until her marriage to Leonard R. Brown on June 10, 1923
near Bloomington, who preceded her in death in 1981.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Unruh in 1994.
She returned to teaching for five years during World War II, and was a member of the
First Methodist Church of Augusta, United Methodist Women, the Twentieth Century Club, and the
Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by her sons, Sidney DeVere Brown and his wife Ruth of Norman, Okla.,
Stanley Reeves Brown and his wife Sandra of Leonardville, Md. sister, Katherine Alley of Derby;
brother Woodrow Berger and his wife Doris of Wichita; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the United Methodist Church, Augusta.
Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta, is in charge of arrangements.
