Calvin Applegate

Calvin Applegate, 72, Augusta, died Monday, Aug. 19, 1996.
There will be a special visitation for Applegate from 6-8 p.m. at Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta.
His funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at First Baptist Chruch, with Dr. Robert Box officiating. He will be buried in Elmwood Cemetery.
He was the son of Lorenza and Myrtly (Parker) Applegate and belonged to the Masonic Order.
Applegate was affilitated with the First Baptist Church and worked a t Mobil Oil Refinery and Learjet. He also owned and operated a skating rink, a construction company and an oil-well service company.
He is survived by his son, Calvin Applegate II, daughter, Priscilla Applegate, brother, John,
sister, Leona Patterson, all of Augusta, another sister, Effie Young of Springfield, Mo.; four grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with Hospice Inc. or the First Baptist Church of Augusta.

Earl Hulse

Earl Franklin Hulse, 80, Augusta, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 1996, Augusta Medical Complex.
Hulse was born in Stockton on Aug. 3, 1916 to Bert and Charlotte (Crane) Hulse.
He married Mary Simkins on July 18, 1942 in Long Beach Calif., she survives.
Hulse later retired as an IRS officer and was preceded in death by one daughter, Ruth Ann Swyers in 1985.
He is also survived by his sons, Richard of Wichita, William of Augusta;
daughters, Jane Fryback of Edmond, Okla., Pat Isom of Kansas City, Mo.;
brother, Freeman Hulse of El Dorado; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Kansas Wildlife Association.
Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta, was in charge of the arrangements.

Dr. James Alley, Jr.

Former Augusta resident, Dr. James M. Alley, Jr. 75, Andover, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 1996.
A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, Lakeview Cemetery, Wichita.
Alley was born Jan. 17, 1921 in Augusta, to James Alley, Sr., and Nan R. (Johnson) Alley.
He was a retired oral-maxillo facial surgeon.
He is survived by his sons, Dr. James Alley III, Valley Center, Dr. Robert Alley of Andover,
Michael Alley of Omaha, Neb.; daughter, Nancy Barbour of Andover;
brother, Richard Alley of San Antonio, Texas.
A memorial has been established with the Charles Stanley in Touch Ministries.
Lakeview Funeral Home, Wichita, is in charge of arrangements.

Leonard Gash

Former Augusta resident, Leonard Steven Gash, 79, Pleasanton, Texas, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 1996.
Gash was born June 20, 1917 and was retired from Travelers Insurance Company, where he was a safety engineer.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Catherin; sons, Steven of Rose Hill; Thomas of Devine, Texas; Richard of Augusta; daughters, Cathy Lopez of San Antonio, Mary Divin of Pleasanton, 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
