A. Berkley Clark, 84, Augusta, died Tuesday, July 2, 1996, Riverside Hospital, Wichita.
There will be a graveside service for Clark at 11 a.m. Friday, July 5, at the Douglass Cemetery.
Clark was born Aug. 24, 1911 in Knob Noster, Mo., to John and Josephine (Joseph) Clark, and retired from the Mobil Oil refinery.
He is survived by his wife, Iona; son, Robert or Wichita; daughter, Marlys McGuire, Haven; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. 7H/

Mike Ballinger

Restaurant owner and entrepreneur Mike Gene Ballinger, 48, of Wichita, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 1996, at the Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita.
A graveside service is planned for 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at Elmwood Cemetery. Dr. Robert Box of Augusta First Baptist Church will officiate.
He was born May 3, 1948 in Wichita as a son of Gene and Haroldene Martin Ballinger.
He graduated from Augusta High School in 1966 and from Ottawa University in 1970.
Ballinger was president of the family food catering business before starting The Empire House Restaurant & Theater in Wichita’s Old Cowtown Museum in 1989.
In addition to his parents, he leaves a sister, Holly Ballinger Harper of Augusta and a grandmother, Millie Ballinger, also of Augusta.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Cory Ballinger.
Memorials to the Ottawa University Music & Fine Arts Department. c/o Ottawa Unviersity, Ottawa, Kan., 67067. have been suggested.
The Hillside Funeral Home Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

Michael Ballinger

Restaurant owner and entrepreneur Michael Gene Ballinger, 48, of Wichita, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 1996, at the Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at Elmwood Cemetery. Dr. Robert Box of Augusta First Baptist Church will officiate.
He was born May 3, 1948 in Wichita as a son of Gene and Haroldine Ballinger.
He graduated from Augusta High School in 1966 and from Ottawa University in 1970.
After college graduation, Mr. Ballinger worked in New York for the American Bible Society.
Ballinger was active in the family food business, Ballinger’s Catering, most of his life. In 1989, he relinquished his duties as president of Ballinger’s Inc. and became the proprietor of The Empire House Restaurant & Theater at Wichita’s Old Cowtown Museum. The Empire House closed at the end of 1995 season because of changes planned at Cowtown.
Mr. Ballinger received special recognition Monday night during an awards program at the Mary Jean Teall Theatre in Wichita, He was characterized as a great man in the theater community. He was a generous and ardent supporter of the arts.
In addition to his parents, he leaves a sister, Holly Ballinger Harper of Augusta and a grandmother, Millie Ballinger, also of Augusta.____
He was preceded in death by a brother, Cory Ballinger.

Friends have scheduled a memorial service for Ballinger 7 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Larkspur Restaurant in Wichita.

Wanda Jackson

Funeral arrangements were pending this morning for Wanda L. Jackson, 64, Augusta, who died Thursday, Aug. 29, 1996.
The Rev. Joe Wedan of First Southern Baptist Church will be officiating at the service.
Jackson was born July 4,1932 in Cull, Mo., the daughter of Franklin and Berta Lee (Huddleston) Francis.
She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Augusta.
She married John D. Jackson on Aug. 31, 1956, he survives.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Tamara D. Fleming of Millbrook, Ala., Shirley K. Windholz of Augusta; grandchildren, Stefannie, Ashley and Caleb Fleming of Millbrook, Ala., Michael, Marcus, and Mackenzie Windholz of Augusta, Megan Hill of San Diego, Calif.; brothers, Roy C. Francis of Springfield, Mo., Franklin D. Francis and Duane Francis, both of Independence, Mo.; sisters, Charlene Parent of West Plains, Mo., Thelma Russell of Koshkonong, Mo.; Modena Rose and Evelyn Thomson of Independence, Mo.
Jackson was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.
