Edward Williams

Edward L. "Eddie" Williams, 45, Augusta, died Saturday, June 29, 1996.
Visitation will be tonight until 8 p.m. at the Smith Mortuary in Derby.
His service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, with Rev. Richard Sandoval officiating. Burial will be Elmwood Cemetery.
Williams was born July 10, 1950 in Bartlesville, Okla., to Famous Williams and Anne (Dixson) Gardner.
He was a former U.S. Marine. The Concrete Ready Mix truck driver is survived by his wife, Sandee (Walker) Williams; sons, Craig, Teddy, both of Bartlesville, Okla.; daughter, Gretta Williams of Broken Arrow, Okla.; stepson, Kevin Frost, stepdaughters, Kelley Jackson, Kylee Frost,all of Augusta; mother and stepfather, Anne and Jim Gardner, father, Famous Williams, all of Bartlesville; brother, H.R. Gibbs . of Wichita; sister, Elizabeth Crawford of Wann, Okla.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.

Ernest H. Ewalt

Ernest “Ernie” Henry Ewalt, 95, Augusta, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 1996, at the Augusta Medical Complex Long Term Care Facility.
His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Dunsford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Robert Box of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial in Elmwood Ceme-tery.
Ewalt was born March 15, 1901 to John Henry and Mary Emma (Need) Ewalt in Atlanta where he spent his early life.
He helped his family with the livestock on the Wingate prairie northeast of Atlanta, and helped run the family livery barn and dray wagon hauling freight, coal, sand, rig timber and drilling tools in the Augusta oil fields.
He also helped his family with the family rock crusher at the rock quarry south of Augusta to furnish rock for a lot of the base of many Augusta streets, the high school, the Methodist Church, and the White Eagle Refinery, besides helping set heavy equipment for the refinery.
In 1923, he lived in the Magnolia Oil field in the Augusta area where he was a roustabout, and helped the family in the auto livery the family owned.
Ewalt, over time, was a gang leader in the maintenance department, a labor foreman in the construction department, a labor and automotive foreman, and a supervisor over all labor in the Mobil Refinery from 1928 to 1967.
He also helped his brothers, Bill and Walter Ewalt by taking care of their dogs at their greyhound kennels in Augusta and Florida.
He was an avid fisherman after his retirement and a member of the First Baptist Church.
He married Mabel E. Harlin in 1924, she preceded him in death in 1956.
He married again, this time to Beatrice B. (Bums) Hawkins in 1962, she also preceded him in death in 1992.
Ewalt was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Bill, Walter, and Lawrence; two sisters, Nona Howard and Emma Shafer.
He is survived by his sisters, Venita Canfield and Leota Euler, both of Augusta; numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been suggested to the First Baptist Church, Augusta.

Robert Laflin

Robert J. Laflin, 52, of Augusta died Nov. 11, 1996, at his home.
His service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Mr. Laflin was born Jan. 6, 1944, to Ruth Laflin in Chippewa Falls, Wise. He was a self-employed television producer.
He married Carmen J. Stueven August 25, 1968, in Augusta.
Survivors are wife, Carmen J. Laflin of Augusta; half-sister, Georgeana Blackburn of Peewakee, Wise, and stepsister, Linda Hughes of Fountain Hills, Ark.
