Dean Burden
Former Augusta resident Dean W. Burden, 67, Shell Knob, Mo., died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 1996.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Central Community Methodist Church, Shell Knob, with the Rev. James Lee officiating.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Burden was born on June 5, 1929 in Mulvane, the son of Bill and Rhoda (Cruise) Burden.
He spent his entire career in electrical distribution in Mulvane and Augusta and retired from the City of Augusta,
working at the Kansas Electric Power Plant after 43 years of service.
Following his retirement, he moved to Shell Knob in 1990 and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, working on cars, woodworking and any activity which included his family.
He was a charter member of the Kansa Travelers in Augusta and was a member of the United Brethren Church in Mulvane. He attended the Central Community United Methodist Church in Shell Knob.
He married Rosella Dobbin on July 4, 1948 in Mulvane.
Burden was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert, Levi, and Floyd; sisters, Marjorie Willison and Mary Yeager.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Don and his wife, Linda, of Augusta, Merle and his wife Gwen of Wichita, Art and his wife, Lisa of Augusta; daughters, Colleen Galgon, Eilleen Genter and her husband, Richard, all of Augusta; 15 grandchildren; one future greatgrandchild; brothers, Cleo Burden and his wife, Phyllis, of Wichita, Verlyn and his wife, Betty, of Leon; sisters, Eva Mae Mosier of St. John, Maudie Watkins and her husband, W.L. Jr., of Oliver Springs, Tenn., Esther Shoupe of Arkansas City, Thelma Davis of Valley Center.
A memorial has been established with the Central Community United Methodist Church in Shell Knob. Williamson Funeral Home, Shell Knob, is in charge of arrangements.

Lucile Bachtel
Lucile Bachtel, 82, Augusta, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 1996.
Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Roger Guy officiating. Burial will be in the Latham Cemetery, Latham.
She was born July 24, 1914 in Cloverdale to Charles Stewart and Ruby Coble Bird.
She married John Willis Bachtel on Dec. 11, 1936 in El Dorado and taught two years of school near Cedarvale. Then she taught for three years at Latham and later substituted in the Augusta school system before retiring.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Augusta and a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship.
She is survived by her hus-, band, Charles Bachtel of the home; sons, John W. of North Glenn, Colo.; daughters, Barbara Cemey of El Dorado, Betty Beach of Manhattan; brother, Charlie Bird Jr. of Augusta; sis-, ter, Audrey Smith of Hominy, Okla.; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established for the First Christian Church of Augusta.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Isabelle Mount of Wichita and a great-grandchild, Kayla Lin Massey.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.
