Kermit Spalding

Kermit C. “Blackie” Spalding, 80, of Oklahoma and formerly of Augusta died Wednesday, June 25, 1997.
His funeral service was Saturday, June 28, in Isabella,Okla. Fairview Funeral Home was in charge of the service.
Survivors are daughters, Donna Henson of Heber Springs, Ark., Barbara Lyons of Los Alemitas, Calif., and Beverly Cheslic of Augusta; sons, Jim Sims, Loyd Sims and Tom Sims, all of Augusta, and 12 grandchildren.

Orlando O. Wolf

Orlando O. Wolf, 74, Augusta, died Friday, Sept. 27, 1996, at home.
His funeral service was held today, Sept. 30, in the chapel of the Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta. Rev. Larry Timm officiated and burial was in Andover Cemetery.
He was born June 24, 1922 in Greenwich, Kan., as the son of Adrian H. Wolf and Bessie Lines Wolf.
On Dec. 24, 1942, he married the former June Johnson in Wichita. She survives.
Mr. Wolf was the retired assistant superintendent at the Crestview Club golf course in Wichita. He also worked 25 years for the Santa Fe Railroad.
He also leaves a son, Ronald Wolf of Augusta; a daughter, Barbara McMurtrey of Haileyville, Okla.; brothers, Oral Wolf of Tecumseh, Neb., and Ivan Wolf of Albany, Ore.; two grandchildren, Deana Lesher of Chesapeake, Va., and Eddie McMurtrey of Haileyville, Okla., and two great-grandchildren, Garrett and Grant Lesher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Orville, and a sister, Neva.
Memorials to Hospice Inc. and/or the Andover Senior Citizens Center have been suggested.
The Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta was in charge of arrangements

Donald Walker

Donald W. Walker, 60, Augusta, died Thursday, Sept. 26. 1996.
His funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at the Downing & Lahey Mortuary in Wichita. A second service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Smith Overlease Funeral Home in Stockton. Burial will be in the cemetery at Woodston.
Mr. Walker was a retired Beech flight mechanic.
He was born June 22, 1936 in Olney Springs, Colo., as the son of Alva and Bessie Whaley Walker.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon; daughter Vicki Mitchell of Wichita; stepson Lonnie R. Sarver of Ashland; stepdaughters Connie S. Walker of Augusta, Sherry Bruggeman of Park City; brothers, Eldon Walker of Augusta, Jack Walker of Wichita, Edward Walker of Andover; sisters, Naomi Walker of Woodston, Betty Bower and Verna Bower, both of Riverton, Neb.; Shirley Liberty of Iola, Mary Shelimbarger of Greenwich; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Grace Fellowship of Augusta.

Anna E. Boyd

Anna E. Boyd, 84, Augusta, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 1996, at her home.
A private family funeral ser-vice will be held prior to internment at the Old Mission Mausoleum in Wichita.
A public memorial service is slated for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at the First Christian Church here.
Ms. Boyd retired after working 33 years for the Butler County Welfare Department. She was a 70-year member of the Augusta First Christian Church.
For more than 50 years, she was active in Christian Womens Fellowship, holding offices at both the local and district level. She was especially vigorous in her support of both youth activities and volunteering her time and resources to supply necessary items for a local care home.
Her research into church archives resulted in recovering and appropriately displaying the church’s original charter. She also assisted in producing a history of the church. She was assisted in this endeavor by her late sister, Erma Boyd, who served as church financial secretary.
Mrs. Boyd leaves cousins, Priscilla Copenhaver of Bartlesville, Okla., Kenneth Dill of Augusta, John Dill IV of Mill Creek, Wash., Mary Porter of Tulsa, Okla., Doris Meyers of Conroe, Texas, Evalee Fleming of Denton, Texas, Terry Langford of Wichita, Thomas, Robert, and Michael Dill; niece, Eleanor Melzor, and nephews, Robert, Randall and Roger Fertelmes of Pittsburgh, Pa..
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Anna & Emma Boyd Perpetual Memorial Fund, which benefits both educational and youth activities, have been suggested. This fund is established at the First Christian Church.
