George R. Brock
Former Augusta resident George Russell Brock, 90, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 1996 at
Ninnescah Manor nursing home in Clearwater.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at the Ninnescah Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Luke Jayne officiating. Burial will be in the Belle Plaine Cemetery.
He was born Aug. 17, 1906 on his parents’ farm near Stella, Mo. He was the first of seven children bom to Thomas and Emily Whitehead Brock.
On July 28,1927, he was united in marriage to Bessie Lenora Codings in Stella, Mo. He farmed in that area until the late 1930s when he moved to Neosho, Mo., where he began a career in carpentry.
The Brocks relocated to this area in the 1940s.
He became an ordained Baptist minister in the early 1950s and served churches in Augusta, Belle Plaine, Sedgwick and Wichita. He retired from the ministry in the 1970s.
His wife died Sept. 5, 1977. Mr. Brock leaves a daughter, Louise Stockhaus of Wichita; sisters, Ella McClure of St. Louis, Mo., and Mary Stone of

Adrian B. Bannon
Adrian G. Bannon, 84, Augusta, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 1996, at Medicalodge in Douglass.
His funeral service will be 10 a.m. tomorrow, Oct. 8, at the Church of Christ in Douglass with Rev. Keith Cross officiating. Burial will be in the Douglass Cemetery.
He was born Sept. 22, 1912 in rural Douglass as the son of Claud and Nina Lackey Bannon.
Mr. Bannon was owner of Bannon’s AG Grocery in Douglass, worked as a road grader for Douglass Township, and found time to be a farmer and rancher.
On Dec. 23, 1937, he and the former Beulah DeWater were united in marriage in Douglass. She survives.
He was a member of the Church of Christ in Douglass.
In addition to his wife, he leaves son Ronnie Bannon of Augusta; three grandchildren, Daren and Donna Bannon of Augusta, Ronda Lemke of Douglass, and two great-grandchildren, Samantha and John Lemke of Douglass.

Monroe M. Cummins, 80, Augusta, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 1996 at the Via Christi St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta with Rev. Leon Hiebert of the Andover Assembly 6f God Church officiating.
He was born Aug. 19, 1916 in Caldwell as the son of William H. Cummins and Rosa Cheely Cummins.
On Sept. 7, 1935, he married the former Aletha Engelbrecht in a ceremony at Wellington. She survives.
This retired flight mechanic for Boeing Airplane Co. also leaves sons, Bill Cummins of Delhi, La., Jim Cummins of Dallas, Texas, John A. Cummins of Rose Hill, and Robert Cummins of Douglass; daughters, Lila Terry, Carol Fowler, and Marilyn Swearingen, all of Augusta; 19 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Clifford D. Fessler, 36, Augusta, died Friday, Oct. 11, 1996, in Wichita.
His graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Elmwood Cemetery. Pastor Paul Andrews will officiate.
He spent four years with the U.S Marines.
Mr. Fessler, who worked as a new car salesman, was born Feb. 25, 1960 in Wichita as the son of Clifford E. Fessler and Margaret Joyce Fessler.
In addition to his parents, he leaves sons, Eric, Michael, and Cory of Savannah, Tenn.; sister, Jayne Lawson of El Dorado, and his grandmother, Edna Nesler.

Katie J. Lumis, 83, Augusta, died Monday, Oct. 14, 1996, at Augusta Medical Complex.
Her graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at Elmwood Cemetery with Dr. W.M. Childress of Christ Lutheran Church officiating.
She was born Sept. 9, 1913 in Oklahoma as the daughter of Ben Hughes and Nettie Richardson Hughes.
Survivors include son, Donald E. Hall of Springfield, Mo.; daughter, Doris Waymire of Toronto; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
The Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

Emma Brooke Rockers, infant daughter of Greg and Denise Rockers of Wichita, was stillborn Tuesday, Oct. 8, 1996.
A private graveside service was held today at Elmwood Cemetery. Dr. Max Clayton of East Heights United Methodist Church officiated.
In addition to her parents, survivors include grandparents, Walter and Jackie Sharp of Augusta, Raymond and Janet Rockers of Paola; great-grandmothers Pauline Sawtelle of Augusta and Bemadine Walterbach of Falls City, Neb.
Memorials to the Childrens Book Fund at East Heights United Methodist Church, 4407 E. Douglass, Wichita, Kan., 67218, have been suggested.
