Father Dies In Nebraska
Austin Bacon, Lincoln, Neb., father of Rev. Richard Bacon, pastor of Augusta’s First Christian Church, died Sunday, Dec. 5.
His funeral service was Tuesday, Dec. 7, at the Metcalf Mortuary in Lincoln.

L.P. Beard Dies At 79
Lillian P. Beard, 79, El Dorado, formerly of Douglass, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
Her service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at the Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado. Rev. David Troyer will officiate and burial will be in the Douglass Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 2, 1903 in Bartlesville, Okla., to George and Nellie Gray Scott.
She lived in Butler County more than 50 years.
Survivors include a son, Allen Beard of Andrews, Texas; two brothers, Paul Scott of Eureka and Ray Scott of Conroe, Texas; two grandchildren and two great-grandhildren.

Father Dies In Arizona
Walten Doyle, 78, Mesa, Ariz., father of Eugene Doyle of Augusta, died Thursday.
His service was at 10:30 a.m. today at the Green Acres Mortuary in Scottsdale, Ariz.
A memorial has been established with the Central Christian Church in Mesa, Ariz.
Other survivors include his wife, Maxine Doyle of the home; a daughter, Elizabeth Plamann of Mesa, and Other sons, Charles Doyle and Russell Doyle, both of Mesa.

Scott A. King Dies At 83
Scott Albert King, 83, rural Rose Hill and formerly of Leon, died Friday, Dec. 10, at the Augusta Medical Complex.
His service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, at the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel. Rev. William Lee Harper will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
King was born June 6, 1899 in Bloomington Township as a son of Albert Rudolph and Lurah Blanche Luzadder King.
On Feb. 19, 1918, he and the former Vera Dele Hill were united in marriage at Wichita. She preceded him in death in 1981.
This Butler County farmer was a member of the Elks Lodge.
He leaves six daughters, including Gail Scovell of Augusta. The other daughters are Faye Peterson and Bessie Thomas, both of Douglass; Marjorie Woodall of Rose Hill, Betty Nix of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Evelyn Loudenslager of Spring, Texas. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, two nieces and one nephew.
Gladys Ford Dies At 80
Gladys M. Ford, 80, Sedan, mother of Marlene Brazell of Augusta, died Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Sedan city hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 10 o’clock Tuesday, Dec. 14, at the Graves-Baird Funeral Home chapel in Sedan. Rev. John Hunter will officiate.
A second service for Mrs. Ford will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, at the First Christian Church in Fredonia. Rev. Carl Heine will officiate and burial will be in the Fredonia city cemetery.
She was born Feb. 11, 1902 at Fredonia as a daughter of Gusta A. and Fanny Ostrander Koch.
On Jan. 1, 1928, she and Carl E. Ford were united in a marriage ceremony at Fredonia. He survives.
Also surviving are three other daughters, Donna Smith of Sedan, Pauline Cheuvront of Denver, Colo., and Fran Ledbetter of Stillwater, Okla.; three sisters, Bertha Smith of Wichita, Lorena Hampton of Cassville, Mo., and Darlene Morris of New Albany; 14 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
